Shark Attack

I love the beach. However, I'm terrified of the ocean. I don't get in past my knees if I can help it. Caleb thinks my fear of things that can eat me is ridiculous. Yesterday he dared me to find a shark attack in Galveston that they didn't happen. Not only did I find multiple shark attacks in Galveston, but there has actually been 2 fatal attacks! The most recent death was in the 1930's, but he did not specify how recent it had to be. He still tried to tell me how rare they were and yada yada yada, but they happen and he can't say they don't.

This morning Caleb went for a run with Sasquatch. When he got back he walked up to me with this weird smile on his face and said, "There's about a 4 foot shark washed up on the beach maybe a half mile down from the house." Um, yeah.... not going in the water.

Oddly, I immediately wanted to go see it. In much the same way that I love to watch Shark Week on the Discovery Channel!!

That's my dad's foot for a little scale. His tail was buried so there's a little bit more you can't see too.
What's the point of this story? It is proof that Caleb doesn't know. All those times he says things with such authority that people just believe him... HE DOESN'T KNOW. He's lucky this shark didn't eat him.

Even as I write this Caleb is still trying to tell me he's right. That this shark didn't attack anyone and was probably killed way out at sea, but that is not what he said. He said there were no sharks in Galveston. WRONG.

And here's a picture of my blue eyed babies. If nothing else they have the same eyes. I don't know why, but Blythe doesn't like to smile in pictures. She prefers a version of Blue Steel.

Sharks will attack anywhere and at anytime. Never underestimate a shark, even if it's dead and washed up on the shoreline.

See you this weekend at the beach house. I'm bring my throwing knife just in case we have a shark emergency :)

ps...I appreciate that you continue to blog. you're the only blogging friend of mine that is consistent.
